Influence of Mo micro-particles on crack formation, microstructure, and mechanical behaviour of laser powder bed fusion fabricated CuZrAl bulk metallic glass composites

In this work, a new design principle, i.e. doping with refractory metal particles low diffusion rate to prevent the formation of cracks and improve mechanical properties bulk metallic glass (BMG) composites, was put forward. It proven that crack-free dense Mo(p)/Cu47Zr47Al6 BMG composites enhanced can be produced via LPBF. The dislocations generated in Mo release thermal stress, thereby inhibiting thermal-cracks. fracture patterns show they delay rapid crack expansion, improving inherent strength toughness material.
